Settling in to Sardinia... twice

Been an interesting 24 hrs.  We arrived in Sardinia yesterday afternoon at the airport in Olbia, picked up our not so large SUV, completed a 6 piece puzzle to fit ourselves and our luggage into the car, and drove about 30 minutes to our rental house.

The house overlooks Porto Arancia with amazing views of the coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea.  We were met by Teodora who was to show us around the house and give us the keys... in English.   Except Teodora doesn't speak English.   And the front door has a multiple phase jig you have to do in order to open it.
Whatever, we got settled in.  Teodora left.
Alyssa came down with a cold so she's been a little under the weather.   We unpacked and left her to sleep in order to get groceries.   Grocery shopping in a foreign country is always a fun adventure between finding the familiar and guessing if you are buying the correct type of water.  And what are Fonzies?
We came back to the house and found ourselves locked out even though we had the key.   Alyssa couldn't open the door from the inside.  Eventually she managed to yank the door open but we were all frazzled.   What we thought was a jammed deadbolt ended up being a door we could no longer unlock from the outside.
So... I spent about 3 hours this morning resolving this between the owner and AirBnB.  We ended up having to swallow a loss in deposit but left the house behind and moved on to a new rental house closer to where our cousin Anna and family are staying.   ( I guess I should mention our motivation for coming to Sardinia was to visit with Anna, Edo, and meet little Giorgio. )
The new house is an old traditional Sardinian house with just enough modern amenities and yet another nice view.
Finally settled we met our cousins for some pizza and visited for a bit.  I thought it was 7pm when we departed but it was only 3pm.  It's been a  long and stressful day.  Hopefully smooth sailing from here.

Oh...at the grocery store the machine that weighs your produce and spits out a label to take to the register broke.  6 employees eventually came to debate how to fix it in true animated Italian fashion.
