Rome Continued

I had to be short this morning as we were waiting for our tour bus to Naples, Pompeii, and Sorrento to arrive. We are back from that (more later) so I stood in line to use the computer and now its mine....all mine.. ..whoooo hhahahahahahahahahahah hwhooooohwhhahahahaah....
Sorry. I lost control.

More about Rome.
Rome is a delight to walk around. Off the main streets are tons of neat narrow streets with more culture than you can shake a stick at. Yesterday we took that exciting cab ride to St. Peter's - nearly got in 3453463 accidents along the way. These Italians sure know how to drive. No wonder Americans suck at Formula 1 driving. NASCAR has nothing on a local cabbie.
The highlight of the day was the Roman Forum and the Pantheon.
In the Pantheon, the artist Raphael Santi is buried along with a few of Italy's former Kings and Queen Margherita - whom Pizza Margherita is named for.
The Forum is SO big. Its amazing how much really is intact - including the stone on which Julius Caesar was burned, the House of the Vestal Virgins, etc etc. We all were quite impressed.

Just to recap, we have seen or toured the following in 2 days in Rome:
Spanish Steps
Trevi Fountain - and we chucked some coins in to ensure our return to Rome
Church of San Giovanni in Laterano - Roman Senate doors, Giotto fresco, St Peter's head, etc etc
The Holy Stairs from Pontius Pilot's palace
Church of Santa Maria Maggiore - Bernini's Tomb, Manger fragments
St Peter's Square
Campo D'Fiori
Piazza Novana
Pantheon
Roman Forum
Molto pizze!
Colosseum
Piazza Della Republica

wow.
Tomorrow we visit the Vatican and the museum and St Peter's Bascillica and then some shopping etc.
Tuesday we are off to Milan. Weather is still good.. but looks like showers are ahead.
Now to post about Pompeii
