Conversations With a Pigeon
There are a lot of pigeons in Italy, especially around the public squares and tourist spots. This obviously has made Jule a bit nervous having been shat on twice while in London last September. I wonder what these pigeons think of life.
Waiting for our train in Florence, I witnessed a maintenance guy come up and feed a dozen or so pigeons a whole slice of bread. Its interesting how these birds eat. They grab on to whatever they can and just yank away... the end result is that bits and pieces of bread are just flying everywhere. Its pretty funny to watch a pigeon grab ahold of a quarter sized piece of bread and yank at it.. then the piece goes flying right over the pigeon's head..and he is left standing there looking around wondering where the bread went. And so it goes on and on and on until the bread is gone.
Fascinating life those pigeons have. Deadly aim too.
