Faramcia ROCKS!
Saluti da Venezia! What an awesome day we have had. The weather is tremendous.. so sunny and clear.. but its cooling down now that 5pm has arrived. Venice is gorgeous! Unlike some other people, we figured out how to get off the island of Murano just fine. It turns out that you need to buy a ticket at the vaporetto stop. Shocker. (just kidding Manuel).
There are a LOT of people in the city anticipating Easter I suppose. That ok... there are even more pigeons. Our hotel is really nice and Anna, the owner, is so nice and helpful in suggesting places to go. We got here around 1pm and have walked through Piazza San Marco (very near our hotel) and to the Rialto Bridge and back through the narrow streets and canals. Its so picturesque.
While waiting for the ladies to visit the public WC - I saw an Italian pop star filming a video on a bridge. It was so funny, the entire crew, videographer, dancers, and singer all just showed up, hopped on this small bridge, and someone hit the play button on a boom box and they did their thing. They had to "cut"twice as people walked right in front of them, but otherwise they pulled off the video without much of a problem. As soon as they did one successful take, they left. It was about that time that the ladies returned - they missed the entire thing. Oh well. It was pretty funny to watch.
As we left Cavaso, it was hard to say goodbye to everyone. We did the "Giro d' Sartor Family"yesterday. The morning started at Beppe and Elida's, then over to Anton and Gratzianna's, they a quick stop at Bianca and her son, then over to see Zio Angelo. Dad spent about an hour with Zio - poor Zio was crying when we left, but he was so overjoyed to see my dad. His memory is really bad, but he kept asking about Rosie. Selective memory.
THis morning Nico and Elisa helped get us to Mestre to drop off our rental car and then we took a shuttle into Venice. It was really hard to say goodbye to Nico and Elisa since they took us everywhere and were so nice to us.
Oh yeah, I forgot, Marghe, Fabio, Nica and Elio had us over for dinner. It was a good time.
Well, we are all cold, so we are going to go back to the hotel. As I said, Venice is absolutely fabulous. We are going to have a full day here tomorrow seeing as much as we can.
Hopefully we can post again tomorrow, this place is open late and somewhat near our hotel.
ciao
(oh, the bit about farmacias is that I caught a cold and got the same drugs I got in september and my cold seems to already be gone after one pill.... I love Italian drugs)
