Oh man, it is hot!

Friday brought us to the so called Taj Majal of theme parks - Disney World. Specifically we visited the Magic Kingdom park. Visiting this place in June means huge crowds and blazing hot weather. To get into the park, you have to first navigate an impressive transportation hub that links parking lots and resort hotels to the various theme parks with an intricate, yet highly inefficient monorail system or by an older, but effective ferry boat across an expansive man made lagoon. While our hotel is only a few miles away, it took nearly an hour to drive, park, ferry, etc to the main gate of the Magic Kingdom.
The high temperature in Orlando on Friday was around 95 degrees with around 50 percent humidity. It got hot quick and began to take its toll on adults and kids alike. Shade and benches were hard to find, but we managed well enough. We kept all well hydrated and did okay with avoiding long lines earlier in the day. Fortunately many rides are indoors and out of the stifling heat. But once you escape the fantasy of whatever ride you are on, the blast of heat from the outdoors smacks you back to reality quickly.
The heat took its toll - Jule sought relief for a napping Maria in the air conditioned baby care area. Meanwhile the rest of continued with rides, found shade or stores to get relief, of ate frozen treats and guzzled down water. Eventually we'd had enough and retreated to our condos at Liki Tiki village for naps, cooling, swimming, and hydrating.
At 7pm, we made our way back to the MK when the sun's punishment had diminished enough (but the heat was still around) for a few more hours of fun. All in all the kids all did great despite crowds and the heat. So did dad!
Next blog I'll highlight the fun things!
Having a relaxing and fun time! Had a great visit with Bill and Marty Mork (ex coworker) on Thursday. Found some great Chicago deep dish pizza! Today is swimming and World Cup (US vs. England). Ciao for now
